Get the Look: Elizabeth Banks at the Los Angeles Catching Fire Premiere

hair: Adir Abergel  /  stylists: Wendi & Nicole  /  dress: Versace

Elizabeth's Verace dress for the LA premiere of Catching Fire was a total show stopper.  The first thing that ran through my mind was "90's supermodel".......I was thinking clean "nude" makeup, a sculpted face and the focus on the eyes.  Often I do Elizabeth's brows dark and strong, but they were bleached when we did the premiere (she was in the middle of filming Mocking Jay, the next installment of the Hunger games movies) so I went with the lighter color and just defined the shape.  I like that they were still sculpted, but just in a lighter shade.  They had a presence, but weren't overpowering.

For the eyes, I used soft nude/neutral shades and then black liner very tight to the lashes.  Under the eyes I used a bit of brown shadow very softly diffused so that it gave the area a hint of darkness but so that it didn't look like eyeshadow, more like it was a shadow created from her lashes.  I popped a bit of a light colored cream shadow onto the lids to catch the light when she blinked and then added heaps of mascara on the top and bottom.  I also used strip lashes on the top, as well as some amazing, subtle bottom strip lashes that I picked up in Japan.  I don't usually talk that much about the fake lashes I use in my breakdowns, I like to leave a little mystery.  But these lashes were truly integral to the look, especially the bottom strip, so I wanted to give them the credit they deserve!

To finish off the look I used a little bronzer to sculpt the face; one that was matte and one with a little shimmer to it.  I used the matte bronzer to sculpt and the one with sheen to add life to the cheeks.  A little apricot blush on top of that brings color, warmth and a natural flush to the face.  The warm nude lip doesn't make her mouth disappear all together, but it does keep the attention squarely on Elizabeth's blue eyes.
