The New York premiere was Elizabeth's final stop on the whirlwind Catching Fire press tour. She had been wearing some insanely beautiful dresses and ended it on high note with this Jenny Peckham strapless number. Honestly, when I saw all of the clothes that she was going to wear on the press tour, this is one of the ones I was the most excited about. It's so chic and effortlessly cool. I would totally wear this somewhere.
With an outfit like this, you just want to look like the cool girl who turns up looking amazing, and is just like..."What? Oh, this? Yeah, I just thew this on....No big deal". And for me that look is about flawless skin, a killer brow, mascara and a wicked lip. No fussy pink cheek, no smokey eye, no gloss in sight. Nothing girly or trying too hard. It just needs to look like you whacked on some mascara and a lip and walked out the door, but perfected.
I moisturized, applied the foundation and concealer, a touch of luminizer and then set it with a light dusting of powder. I used a soft blush along her cheekbones, a bit behind the apples of the cheeks, for a more sophisticated blush. A little shadow on the lid for a hint of definition and the lightest dusting of it under the lower lashes just to open the eyes up a bit before applying 3 coats of mascara on the top. A very light swipe of a light brown mascara on the bottom lashes added a little pop to the eyes but didn't weigh things down. And then a generous application of an orangey lip color, blotted to take down the shine and give a more velvet texture, finished off the look.
